In Chernivtsi 689 Workplaces were created
689 new workplaces were created in Chernivtsi in enterprises and organizations in the first quarter of this year. During this period 434 persons were employed at the vacancies with the assistance of the Employment Service. As of 1 April 1227 unemployed persons are registered in the City Employment Service. Level of unemployment in Chernivtsi makes up 0.7.
In Chernivtsi Leaders of Economic Development were acknowledged
The ceremony of honoring of the leaders of economic development Recognition - 2009 was held on April 8 in the Chernivtsi Regional Music and Drama Theatre. The event Recognition was launched in 2008 in dedication to the 600th anniversary of Chernivtsi and now annually the Competition Committee determines winners among the nominees of this prestigious business distinction. This year more than 100 successful and promising enterprises that work in different areas took part in the competition Recognition - 2009. The Competition Committee, which determined the winners in nine categories, included representatives of businesses, NGOs, Chamber of Commerce, National Bank of Ukraine in Chernivtsi region, the State Tax Inspectorate in the city of Chernivtsi, deputies and heads of executive bodies of the municipality. The main selection criteria were financial and economic performance of the nominee, its participation in public life.
In Chernivtsi Energy Management and Energy Monitoring is being Introduced
On Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 14:00 at the Chernivtsi City Council Central Square, 1 the introductory training workshop for participants of the project Municipal Heating Reform in Ukraine took place. The workshop was held by experts of the Association Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine Anatoliy Kopets’ and Petro Mavko. The workshop is to familiarize participants with objectives, tasks and principles of the Project Municipal Heating Reform in Ukraine and encourage local authorities to provide comprehensive strategy and policy for sustainable energy development. The workshop also considered introduction of energy management, energy monitoring and creation of the advisory committee on energy issues in the city. The event was attended by local leaders and project participants, energy managers, potential members of trainings on municipal energy planning, persons responsible for making decisions in shaping of the city energy policy.
On April, 9 Health Day was observed in Chernivtsi
Every year, on April 7 the World Health Day is observed. It aims to draw attention to major health care issues. In Chernivtsi Health Day was carried out on April 9, 2010 at Taras Shevchenko Central Recreational Park. City hospitals provided the following medical services to Chernivtsi citizens: - Voluntary fluorography examination - Preventive examination of children and adult family members by dentists - Blood pressure measurement - Determination of blood sugar using blood glucose meters - Measurement of body weight and growth rate. Among the events there were: sports, games, concert program and so on. Chernivtsi citizens and visitors of the city were welcomed to join to the World Health Day.
Chernivtsi Sympathize with the Polish People
Chernivtsi City Mayor Mykola Fedoruk on behalf of the Chernivtsi community sent telegrams of condolence to the Polish people in connection with the disaster of the presidential Tu-154, where died President of Poland Lech Kaczynski and his wife, senators, ambassadors, heads of the military authorities, representatives of the clergy and the public, to Consul General of Poland in Lviv Grzegorz Opalinski, Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine Jacek Kluczkowski and President of the twin-city of Chernivtsi Konin Kazimierz Palash. Please accept my deepest condolences for the tragic death of the President of Poland Mr. Lech Kaczynski, his wife and government delegation to your country. This is also a great loss for Ukraine. In these difficult days of mourning residents of Chernivtsi are mourning with you together with the whole world. May they rest in peace said Mykola Fedoruk in the telegram of condolences.
Chernivtsi Received Grant from the German State Bank KfW
On December, 11 Chernivtsi Mayor Mykola Fedoruk and Director of the bank KfW in Kyiv Christian Dorner signed agreement about allocation of the grant to the sum of EUR 500 thousand as payment for experimental services of working out of the feasibility study of the project Water Supply of Chernivtsi. Christian Dorner noted that the German state bank KfW has already been cooperating with Ukraine for 15 years. For the given period the bank has invested about EUR 500 million in realization of innovative projects in the sector of housing and communal services, energy saving and finance. Since 2007 representatives of the bank have visited 20 cities of Ukraine. In 15 ones they carried out thorough research work. According to the results of these studies, the bank has chosen Chernivtsi, Lviv and Kremenchuk for further cooperation and development of innovations.
In Chernivtsi a Place for Paul Celan Museum Is Searched
City Mayor Mykola Fedoruk charged Office of Economy of the City Council to find premises in the downtown for arrangement of Paul Celan museum. In case of necessity, the city is ready to settle out citizens with their consent from the suitable building.
Getting Ready to New Year Holidays
According to the order of Mayor Mykola Fedoruk, economic players of trade and restaurant sectors, markets and micro-markets were charged till December, 16 to thematically decorate shop windows and premises of their establishments with illuminative elements, modern decorative materials and festive adornments. From December, 19 2009 till January, 20 2010 street retail sale of packed up foodstuffs, production of the restaurant sector, New Year gifts, souvenirs and toys will be organized in Soborna Square and places of the festive events. Festive decoration of the points of sale will be ensured. Street sale will be fulfilled at the presence of information about enlisting of the points of sale into Chernivtsi database, establishment of working schedule convenient for population and adherence to the Rules of Trade Servicing of the Population. During festive and pre-festive days working schedule of shops, establishments of restaurant sector, markets and micro-markets will be prolonged for one hour.
In Chernivtsi the Best Cooks, Confectioners, Waiters and Bartenders Were Noted
VIII Festival of the Culinary Art Bukovynian Hospitality 2009 eventuated on December, 2 with the assistance of the Department of Economics of Chernivtsi City Council and Chernivtsi center of the Association of Cooks of Ukraine. 30 participants-representatives of the restaurant sector, confectioneries and also students of Chernivtsi Trade and Economic Institute of Kyiv National Trade and Economic University took part in the Festival. Contests of cooks, confectioners, waiters and barmen-baristas took place in the framework of the Festival. Leading establishments of the restaurant sector of Chernivtsi and region took part in the contest The Best Banquet National Dish. For active participation in the Festival all the participants were graced with valuable presents from the sponsors.
Genoa Offers Partnership Relations to Chernivtsi
Chernivtsi City Mayor Mykola Fedoruk received delegation of Italy including Genoa Deputy Mayor Antonio Fabri and President of the Confederacy of Builders of Italy Karl Krest. The delegation resided in Chernivtsi by reason of disclosure of the Italian-Ukrainian medical-diagnostic laboratory LEONARDO. Entrepreneurs Alexander and Olga Grinyovs and their Italian partner Jean Franko Jentili were also present at the meeting. In Chernivtsi they’re implementing a joint medical-diagnostic project. Representatives of Italy expressed willingness to expand cooperation with Chernivtsi, in particular in the domain of building business, and Deputy Mayor of the city of Genoa offered to launch partnership relations between Chernivtsi and Genoa. Mykola Fedoruk noted that Chernivtsi citizens, as pragmatic partners, are interested in constructive cooperation and realization of specific projects that are urgent for the city and its inhabitants and interesting for foreign investors.
