Chernivtsi offers Suceava twinning-partnership
Delegation from Chernivtsi consisting of the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and groups of amateur theatricals with city mayor Mykola Fedoruk at the head, took part in the celebration of the Day of Suceava. Chernivtsi manufactures represented in Suceava their production on the exhibition of goods and services and amateur groups participated in the festive concert. Suceava city mayor Ion Lungu and Chernivtsi city mayor Mykola Fedoruk spoke at the opening of the seminar on the trans-border cooperation. The issue of the seminar was activation of the trans-border cooperation of the Suceava district and Chernivtsi region. Ion Lungu took interest in the experience of work of the Association of the Cities and Communities of Ukraine and during discussions of the ways of filling of the city budgets and utility problem solving Mykola Fedoruk offered Suceava to begin the so-called twinning-partnership.

Air Communication Between Chernivtsi and Kyiv Has Been Resumed
Since April, 27 the airline company Dniproavia executes flights from Chernivtsi to Kyiv. Flights are carried out every day en route Uzhhorod Chernivtsi Kyiv Boryspil Chernivtsi Uzhhorod. In weekdays there are two flights en the route. This was announced by director of the municipal enterprise International Airport Chernivtsi Volodymyr Kalynyuk. Price for the ticket on the route Chernivtsi Kyiv is UAH 703, for the route Kyiv Chernivtsi UAH 676 and for the flight Chernivtsi Kyiv Chernivtsi UAH 1233. Flights are served by the new comfortable plane Embrayer equipped with the engines Rolls Royse. It picks up the speed of 800 kilometers per hour. The new plane is very economic it consumes half of the fuel needed for the native analogue An-24. Embrayer can take on its board 50 passengers at the same time.
Chernivtsi Airport Got UAH 500 000 On Reconstruction
UAH 500 000 are allotted on reconstruction of the facilities of the city enterprise International Airport Chernivtsi from the specially allocated city social and economical development funds. Such a decision was taken by the session of the City Council on April, 2. The session of the City Council also gave to International airport Chernivtsi land-tax benefits in the part that is passed to the city budget in order to maintain the enterprise. This benefit will be in effect from April, 1 till December, 31 of this year. The same land-tax benefits were given to the municipal enterprise Vodokanal. The session also allotted UAH 83 000 on the maintenance of the city trolleybus office from the city social and economic development funds.
The Best Were Acknowledged
On April, 2 solemnities dedicated to awarding of the economical city development leaders Acknowledgement 2008 took place. In each of this year 9 nominations there were three candidates. Jury chose the best. In the nomination Successful Industrial Enterprise of the Year victory was gained by the open joint-stock company Chernivtsi Oil and Fat Industrial Complex. Limited liability company Chernivtsi Machine-Building Plant was the best in the nomination European Quality of the Year. In 2008 Local Trend of the Year became the open joint-stock company Chernivtsi Bread Production Complex. Closed joint-stock company Trasnmost won in the nomination Investment of the Year, and open joint-stock company PMK-76 is acknowledged as the best Building Company of the Year. Open joint-stock company Knitted Goods Firm Arnika got victory in the nomination The Best Employer of the Year.
This Year City Council Will Allot UAH 100 000 On Municipal Grants
As is generally known, contest of social projects of non-profit organizations has been successfully functioning in Chernivtsi for 5 years already. Initiated by NGOs this mechanism of fulfillment of joint projects between community and authority with the financial support of the latter has proven its capacity and efficiency and manifested itself as one of the most successful forms of cooperation with the social sector. This year City Council allotted UAH 100 000 on social grants. Recently a contest has defined 8 public organizations which are to fulfill projects for the benefit of community and on the cost of the City Council. Two projects Book aloud of the regional organization UTOS and Help for Self-Help of the city citizens union Narodna Dopomoha People’s Help were backed in the priority trend Social Help and Adaptation of the Disabled, Unemployed and Aged Low-Income People.
Three-Stage Control Is Established Over Functioning Of Emergency Teams
Automated control system Ambulance was introduced on emergency station in Chernivtsi. To this effect computer equipment software was purchased last year and head physicians of the shift, controllers, medical statistics, typing operators, in total all the staff of the operative-dispatch station was instructed. This was announced by the head physician of the city emergency station Ms. Lyubov Chovhan. Automated control system Ambulance enables to minimize waste of time on receiving calls and their transferring to the rescue teams. Controller of the station and head physician of the shift have the opportunity to track the location of every team, control the time of arrival on the call, the time of residence on the call and hospitalization of patients. During the analysis of the call maps patients with chronic pathologies who often use medical care services are tracked.
Chernivtsi Citizens Are Called For an Hour to Switch Off the Light
According to the appeal of the National Agency of Ukraine For Providing with the Effective Utilization of Power Resources Chernivtsi citizens were called to join the ecological action Hour of the Earth on March, 28 and together with the entire conscious world to switch off electricity from 20.30 till 21.30 P.M. The organizer of the ecological action the Worldwide Fund for Nature WWF aims at calling people to real joint actions in the struggle against climate change. Hour of the Earth is to demonstrate unprecedented solidarity of the world community. It appeals to the leaders of all the states with the call to pass a new global agreement concerning struggle against the global warming. In the framework of this action on March, 28 such large megalopolices of the planet as Tokyo, New York, Buenos Aires, such famous historical and architectural monuments as Coliseum in Rome, the Athenian Acropolis, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Golden Gate in San Francisco, CN Tower in Toronto, the Federation Tower in Moscow and others during an hour found themselves in darkness.
Chernivtsi Ñelebrated the 65th Anniversary of Liberation from Nazi Invaders
On March, 26 the 65th anniversary of Chernivtsi liberation from German Nazi invaders was celebrated. On this occasion on March, 27 grand meeting and festive concert, where chorus of veterans and the best performers of the city participated, took place in the Central Palace of Culture. In the foyer of the Palace exhibition of children’s drawings Chernivtsi and Its Citizens was presented. On that day flowers- and wreath-laying on the monuments and tombs of perished during the World War II and honoring veterans festive actions took place. On March, 28 rally and flowers-laying on the monument to the warrior-liberator took place in Soborna square. Later on the city celebrated the holiday of March, 29 Street. In the educational establishments meetings with veterans and lessons of courage were held, in library institutions exhibitions of books and publicist materials dedicated to liberation of Chernivtsi took place.
Nominated Dossier Of The Bukovyna Metropolitans’ Residence Will Be Presented At The Public
Joint conference of the Public Council of Cultural Heritage Protection and the League of Active Youth will take place in the City Council on March, 20. Dossier of the architectural monument the Bukovyna Metropolitans’ Residence that is nominated to UNESCO World Heritage List will be presented. Also the issue of putting up monuments to S. Vorobkevych, V. Ivasyuk and Franz-Joseph. will be discussed at the meeting. Participants are to hear an anticipatory account about accomplishment of the Complex Program of the Historical Building System Preservation for years 2009-2015 and to analyze fulfillment of the repairing and restoration works on occasion of Chernivtsi 600 anniversary celebration as well as the ways of involving the city community into preservation and conservation of the cultural heritage objects.
