In Chernivtsi Energy Management and Energy Monitoring is being Introduced

On Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 14:00 at the Chernivtsi City Council (Central Square, 1) the introductory training workshop for participants of the project "Municipal Heating Reform in Ukraine" took place. The workshop was held by experts of the Association "Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine” Anatoliy Kopets’ and Petro Mavko.
The workshop is to familiarize participants with objectives, tasks and principles of the Project "Municipal Heating Reform in Ukraine" and encourage local authorities to provide comprehensive strategy and policy for sustainable energy development. The workshop also considered introduction of energy management, energy monitoring and creation of the advisory committee on energy issues in the city.
The event was attended by local leaders and project participants, energy managers, potential members of trainings on municipal energy planning, persons responsible for making decisions in shaping of the city energy policy.
Among the project partners there are 35 cities of Ukraine, which are provided assistance in fulfillment of energy audit and analysis of heating systems, development of municipal energy plans, preparation of the legal framework and technical specifications of accounting devices, implementation of energy efficient technologies, and monitoring of the results of all development projects. Moreover, "Municipal Heating Reform in Ukraine" promotes creation of associations of apartment houses owners, co-owners associations and housing cooperatives. Such work is to improve management and increase financial responsibility among homeowners.
Project "Municipal Heating Reform in Ukraine" is functioning in Ukraine due to financial support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services and is implemented by International Resources Group (IRG) with participation of Ukrainian and international organizations.
