Capital of Bukovyna has Won for the Second Time

Capital of Bukovyna has won for the second time in the all-Ukrainian contest “Settlement of the Best Welfare and Maintenance of Public Order”. According to the first article of the edict of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as of August, 5,2009 ¹ 922 “About the results of the annual all-Ukrainian competition “Settlement of the Best Welfare and Maintenance of Public Order” in 2008” it was indicated: “to recognize cities Simferopol and Chernivtsi as winners of the all-Ukrainian competition “Settlement of the Best Welfare and Maintenance of Public Order in 2008” in the second category of the settlements, rewarding each with the challenge cup and first class certificate of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Representatives of Chernivtsi got the cup and certificate in Kyiv. Deputy Mayor Mykola Popadyuk, head of the board of housing and communal services of the regional state administration Georgiy Leontiy and director of the department of housing and communal services of Chernivtsi City Council took part in the solemnities on occasion of awarding of the winners. It’s the third time when Chenivtsi win in this competition and the second one when the city takes the first place.
The given competition has been carried out since 2003 according to the edict of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine ¹ 1119. All the cities, towns and villages of Ukraine can take part in the competition if they submit materials and bids in time. The winners are considered those settlements that attained the best results in the annual results of work in fulfillment of the program of social and economic development of the settlement, in particular in realization of major and routine repairs of the housing system, reconstruction and maintenance in the proper condition of the streets, roads, overpasses and railway crossings; securing of development and stable operation of the technical devices of traffic regulation, external illumination, water supply and drainage systems; transport servicing of population and safety securing on the roads; adherence to public order, providing of appropriate conditions for labor, rest and life of the citizens; work connected with environmental protection, including prevention of pollution of rivers, lakes and air basin and also noise abatement and securing the rational use of natural resources, etc.
So Chernivtsi citizens should keep on trying to hold leadership, and in the next year again to contend for the high result.
